There's nothing like trying to wrap Christmas presents with a 6 month old kitten by your side who thinks ribbons are the greatest invention since catnip. Anyone reading my blog who is expecting Christmas presents from me, consider yourselves warned.
And by the way, yeah, I decided to get all Christmasy this year and yes, I started buying presents early. Now, coming from someone who year after year just can't enter the commercial aspect of the Christmas spirit, the above is quite the statement.
I usually blame my nonchalance towards reindeer sweaters and blow-up snowmen on the simple fact that local vendors and advertisers start shoving Christmas spirit down my throat as early as October. Then of course, there are all the traveling years when you pretty much skip the Christmas rush altogether.
But this year is a whole different beast. Given that a mainstream-type of life has never appealed to me, with Geoff having just gotten strong enough to resume the last batch of his treatment, I am assured that the banalities of mediocre normalcy soon won't seem like such a bad deal. So for the first time in many years, I am just real excited Christmas is here and it somehow seems to revive the very magic as a child I always knew existed.
